Parents as Partners

Our relationship with parents and carers is very important to us and is an essential element of our success.

Parents know their children best and we always encourage a two-way exchange of information, helping us get to know children and plan for their needs.  When children start at Beehive, there is a large amount of information we need from parents and we try to make this process as easy as possible.  It is important that parents keep us up-to-date about any changes to the information we hold on children.

We always welcome ideas, suggestions and feedback from parents and find that links between the nursery and families give children the best outcomes in their learning and development.

There are many ways in which we communicate with parents and carers including face-to-face (always the best option!), phone and email.  We also share information in the following ways:

  • Our key person system, ensuring parents have a point of contact at Beehive who knows their child well and can share information or discuss concerns
  • Mary, the manager, is available to give advice and support or answer questions about any aspect of the nursery
  • This website
  • Our noticeboard
  • Signs on the front door
  • Tapestry Learning Journals
  • Our policies which can be found in the entrance hall and includes our complaints procedure
  • Our suggestion box which can be found in the hallway
  • Our links with local schools
  • Our links with other professionals including health visitors, speech and language therapists and the Early Years Team at Suffolk County Council
